Memory seems to be within limit but the CPU usage is extremely high on my Mac OS while training a deep CNN model using Tensor Flow – what is the caus eand how can I reduce it?

You don’t provide much detail on your setup (model, dataset size, batch size, Mac specs, tensorflow-macos version, …).
The 6 cores of your CPU are being fully used, what about your GPU?
No GPU as I have disabled it due to slowness after upgrading max is to Sonoma
